listen, I know it isn't as simple as parents not wanting to parent. I know that it's heavily nuanced and everybody is drained from the cost of living and the social climate of our society. But our kids still deserve for us to put in the effort to help them reach greatness ❤️
Reflecting on the current challenges parents face, it’s clear that modern life’s pressures—from financial strain to social climate—have made consistent parenting more difficult. However, establishing clear expectations and discipline remains essential for a child's development. In my personal experience, I’ve noticed how easily children can become disengaged or disrespectful when boundaries are unclear or consequences are absent. This often stems from parents feeling exhausted, leading them to resort to screens or indulgences instead of active parenting. While understandable, this approach risks children missing out on learning valuable lessons about respect, responsibility, and self-control. Teaching kids that actions have consequences prepares them for life beyond home and school. Without this, they struggle to navigate social norms or professional environments, where standards and accountability are non-negotiable. For example, while schools may be limited in disciplinary options, reinforcing consistent rules at home ensures children grasp the importance of authority and respectful behavior. I also believe that discipline does not mean harsh punishment but rather establishing trust and clear communication. Setting boundaries with empathy helps children understand expectations rather than merely fearing consequences. It empowers them to make thoughtful decisions and develop intrinsic motivation. Ultimately, prioritizing parenting—even when drained—can foster greatness in our children. It requires patience and effort but builds the foundation for their future success and well-being. We owe it to our kids to raise the bar and equip them to thrive in the complex realities of today’s world.
