Outfit doubts 🫣

This morning I was feeling cute… outfit was outfit-ing, confidence was confidence-ing 💅✨

Then I remembered I was going to work and suddenly had to ask myself:

“Is this acceptable… or am I about to end up in a meeting about ‘professional attire’ at 41 years old?” 🙄😂

So anyway… I added a jean jacket.

Not because there was anything wrong with my outfit…

but because I refuse to be sitting in circle time with preschoolers while also wondering if HR is gonna call me during nap time 😭

Nothing humbles you faster than being a grown woman layering for “just in case.”

While feeling confident in your outfit is empowering, the realities of working in an early childhood education environment can lead to second-guessing choices, especially when remote or physical meetings with HR and colleagues are a possibility. Layering is a smart strategy, as exemplified by adding a jean jacket "just in case". It not only increases versatility but also ensures comfort and appropriateness throughout the day—from active circle time with preschoolers to potential administrative check-ins. This practical approach reflects a common experience among educators who must juggle personal expression with workplace expectations. Incorporating playful yet professional staples, like denim layers or modest accessories, can elevate an outfit without compromising appropriateness. Additionally, understanding your school’s dress code policy helps alleviate anxiety about potential feedback regarding attire. Open conversations with supervisors about dress expectations can provide clarity and reduce the stress associated with daily clothing decisions. Ultimately, the outfit doubts voice a shared sentiment among many working professionals—especially in education—where confidence in appearance intersects with the practical need to be prepared for any scenario. Embracing versatile wardrobe pieces that transition smoothly from playtime to meetings offers both peace of mind and a chance to maintain self-expression. Reflecting on this balance encourages us to be kinder to ourselves. Aging into professional roles doesn’t mean sacrificing style; it means adapting it thoughtfully. So whether it’s layering with a jean jacket or choosing comfortable yet polished footwear, these small decisions contribute significantly to feeling ready to face the day confidently.
