I'm just saying...
If they didn't want me to melt down the Canalave City Gym, they shouldn't have made it steel type.#pokemon #brilliantdiamond #moltres #icastfireball
Okay, so you're probably here because you're battling those pesky Steel-type Pokémon, just like I was at the Canalave City Gym in Brilliant Diamond! It’s one of those challenges that can really stump you if you don't know the right strategy. From my own battle experience, I can tell you exactly what you need to bring to melt their defenses away. The short answer to 'what is steel effective against' is simple: Fire, Fighting, and Ground-type moves are super effective! Steel types are notoriously known for their incredible defensive stats and often boast a large number of resistances, which can make them incredibly tough to crack. But every type has its weaknesses, and for Steel, these three are your absolute go-to types for dealing super effective damage. For me, my Moltres was an absolute game-changer in the Canalave Gym. I remember one specific moment where my Moltres unleashed a powerful Heat Wave, and it just scorched through everything! Fire-type attacks are fantastic because, well, imagine trying to withstand intense heat if you're made of metal – it just melts away. Beyond Moltres, reliable Fire-type Pokémon like Infernape with its high speed and physical attack, a powerful Arcanine, or even a classic Charizard can be equally devastating. They bring the heat and can often outspeed and out-damage many Steel-types before they can set up their own defenses or attacks. Always prioritize Pokémon with high Special Attack for Fire moves or high Attack for physical Fire moves like Flare Blitz. Beyond Fire, don't underestimate Fighting-type Pokémon. Think about it logically: a strong punch or kick, like a Close Combat or Dynamic Punch, can bend or break even the toughest metal. Pokémon such as Machamp, with its No Guard ability ensuring attacks always hit, Lucario (who, despite being Steel-type itself, often learns powerful Fighting moves!), or a hard-hitting Gallade can be excellent choices. Their STAB (Same Type Attack Bonus) Fighting moves can rip through Steel's high defense, transforming seemingly impenetrable fortresses into rubble. These Pokémon often have the physical bulk or speed to withstand a hit and retaliate powerfully. And let's not forget Ground-type Pokémon! Ground attacks, like the devastating Earthquake or a strategic Dig, can totally devastate Steel-types by literally shaking them to their core or burying them under debris. Rhyperior, known for its immense physical bulk and attack, the incredibly fast and strong Garchomp, or even a simple yet effective Hippowdon with its Sand Stream ability can be incredibly effective. These Pokémon often have high Attack stats to capitalize on the super-effective damage, making them perfect for handling those metallic threats. When I faced Byron at the Canalave Gym, knowing these type matchups was absolutely crucial. He has formidable Pokémon like Bronzor, Steelix, and Bastiodon, all of whom can be incredibly tanky. My personal strategy was to lead with a strong Fire-type to apply pressure immediately and force him to react. If he switched into something bulky that could wall my Fire-type, I’d consider rotating to a powerful Fighting or Ground type to maintain the offensive momentum. It's all about exploiting those weaknesses and keeping the pressure on! So, next time you're up against a Steel-type Pokémon or a tough gym leader, remember these key types: bring the heat with Fire, smash them with powerful Fighting moves, or shake them to their foundations with Ground. You'll be surprised how quickly those seemingly invincible steel tanks crumble under the right assault. Trust me, it makes the game much more enjoyable and less frustrating when you have the right tools for the job!
