RBF but I swear Iām the sweetest š šø
Okay, seriously, how many of you girlies out there have been told you have a 'resting b*tch face' but you're actually the sweetest person ever? š I swear, it's a real struggle! People see my natural expression and automatically assume I'm mad, unapproachable, or just plain unfriendly. But inside, I'm probably just thinking about my next snack or wondering if I left the stove on. It's so frustrating because it really makes it hard to meet new people and genuinely let's be friends with them, especially when you're just out and about. I recently moved to the NYC/Long Island area, and let me tell you, trying to make new friends with an RBF is a whole other level of challenge! You want to smile and seem welcoming, but sometimes your face just defaults to serious mode. I've had so many moments where I've tried to make eye contact or give a little nod, only to realize I probably looked like I was judging their entire life choices. Whoops! š It's not intentional at all, but I totally get why it can be off-putting to others who don't know me. That's why I joined Lemon8! I figured, if I can't always control my resting face, I can at least put myself out there in a space where words and shared interests can speak louder than expressions. I'm really hoping to find some genuine connections and expand my circle here. Iām looking for brunch buddies, someone to explore the city with, or even just fellow RBF-ers to commiserate with! Sometimes it's just nice to know you're not the only one dealing with this unique facial predicament. So, what are your tips for overcoming the RBF barrier? I've been trying to consciously smile more when I'm out, but it feels so forced sometimes. Or I try to initiate conversations, which can be really daunting, especially in a bustling place like NYC/Long Island! I'd love to hear how other girlies manage this, whether it's through specific ice-breakers, body language adjustments, or just finding the right places to meet people. Any advice on how to make my face look less 'intense' without feeling like I'm forcing a cheesy grin would be amazing! If you're in NYC/Long Island and looking for new friends, drop a comment below! Tell me what kind of fun stuff you're into. Maybe we can plan a meet-up, check out a new coffee shop, or explore some hidden gems in the city. Let's create a little community where we can all be our authentic selves ā RBF and all! It's all about finding your tribe, right? Can't wait to let's be friends with some amazing people here. Don't let a serious face fool you, I promise I'm friendly and ready for some good times!
