When People Show You Who They Are 🖤
Working in the music world has taught me something brutal:
Not everyone who says they care is rooting for you.
Not everyone who promises you the world has any real intention of taking you there.
I’ve trusted people who made me feel seen, believed in.
I gave them pieces of my heart, my creativity, my time. 💔
And so often, they took what they needed...
And left.
No explanation.
No honesty.
Just silence, distance, and a thousand excuses dressed up as “good terms.” 🗣️
I can’t even count the times they looked me in the eye and said, “I wish I could do more”… only for me to watch them pour their energy, resources, and opportunities into someone else — smiling like nothing ever happened.
And the worst part?
They think I’m okay.
They think I didn’t notice.
They think I don’t feel it.
But I do. ❤️🩹
I feel it every time I find the courage to trust again, and get reminded why it's so hard.
I feel it in the quiet moments, when I'm piecing my faith in humanity back together.
I feel it in the sting of hope leaving my body, little by little. 🌘
And still...
I choose not to let them harden me.
Because the truth is:
I am really fucking special — at what I do, and who I am.
I will build the life they thought I needed their approval for. 🧱
I will rise, not to prove them wrong, but because my heart was always meant to. 💗
Maybe one day they'll realize they lost out on something.
Maybe they never will.
I don’t get to control that. 🤷♀️
All I can control is the love I refuse to lose.
The hope I stubbornly protect.
The spirit that refuses to turn bitter, even when it would be easier to. ☀️
I’m not here to be unbothered.
I’m here to stay human.
And that’s my greatest power. 🙏
