Starting a new career in your 30s, especially something as demanding as Emergency Medical Services (EMS), is both challenging and incredibly rewarding. When I began this journey, I was motivated by a deep desire to make an impact and learn how to save lives. It wasn’t easy balancing studies, physical training, and the emotional weight of emergency response, but each milestone reassured me that it was worth it. Joining the EMS community also meant joining a supportive network of people who share a purpose-driven mindset. Many of us are women breaking barriers in this field, often confronting doubts about starting over at a later age. But embracing faith over fear helped me persevere during tough moments, whether it was mastering life-saving techniques or handling stressful scenarios during internships. For anyone considering a career change to EMS in their 30s (or beyond), my advice is to focus on your purpose and lean on community hashtags like #EMTStudent and #WomenInEMS to find support and inspiration. It’s a path that requires dedication but rewards you by giving you the skills and confidence to make a difference every day. Remember, it’s never too late to start over and follow a passion that saves lives.
