pov: u try to recreate the beancurd from haidilao…

6/23 Edited to

... Read moreRecreating Haidilao's iconic beancurd at home can be a rewarding experience, especially when experimenting with alternative ingredients like oat milk. Using oat milk not only caters to dairy-free diets but also adds a subtle natural sweetness and creaminess that compliments the delicate texture of beancurd well. To start, it's important to use the right gelling agent. Agar-agar is a great vegan-friendly choice that sets firmly yet smoothly, ideal for capturing that signature beancurd softness. When heating, keep the temperature low to ensure the oat milk and sugar dissolve evenly without curdling or burning. Straining the mixture through a fine sieve is a crucial step. It helps remove any bubbles or lumps, ensuring the final product is silky smooth and visually appealing. Refrigerating overnight allows the beancurd to set fully and develop its delicate structure. If you want to personalize this recipe, flavor infusions like vanilla or a hint of ginger can add extra depth. Experimenting with these can help you create a dessert that’s not just a copy but a unique tribute to the Haidilao classic. Making beancurd at home also opens up options to explore other versions and toppings – from traditional sweet syrups to fresh fruits or nuts, enhancing the taste and texture. Overall, patience and careful attention to detail in heat and setting times will help you achieve a beancurd dessert that’s creamy, smooth, and wonderfully satisfying, echoing the taste experience of dining at Haidilao.

4 pax Self-heating Hai Di Lao at home?! 🔥🍲
Got gifted this huge yuan yang instant hotpot for 4 to 6 pax. Mala and tomato soups, plenty of ingredients inside. We still added luncheon meat, extra beancurd skin and noodles. Just add water, wait 15 minutes. Honestly not bad for instant hotpot. Just nice for four. Don’t say BOJIO. #sgfood

Stirfry beancurd skin
Found beancurd skin at Bugis 四马路 area and tried this recipe I found online. First, break up the skin and soak in soy sauce and water to soften it. Next chop the veggies and mushrooms. I also added vermicelli like the caifan stall. Prepare the spices- I used cinnamon, cumin, cloves and pepper.
