The Buddha image of King Rama IX (1996)

Was created by Wat Arun Ratchawararam on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the accession to the throne of His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej the Great, or King Bhumibol Adulyadej, the 9th monarch of the Chakri Dynasty.

He ascended to the throne on June 9, 1940. He is the longest-reigning Thai monarch in the world. He was born on December 5, 1927. He is the son of His Royal Highness Prince Mahidol Adulyadej and Her Royal Highness Princess Srinagarindra, the Princess Mother, and the great-grandson of His Majesty King Chulalongkorn and Her Royal Highness Princess Savang Vadhana.

พระราชสมภพเมื่อ วันที่ ๕ เดือนธันวาคม พุทธศักราช (พ.ศ ) ๒๔๗๐ เป็นพระราชโอรสในสมเด็จพระมหิตลาธิเบศร อดุลยเดชวิกรม พระบรมราชชนก กับ สมเด็จพระศรีนครินทราบรมราชชนนี หรือ สมเด็จย่า และเป็นพระราชนัดดาในพระบาทสมเด็จพระ จุลจอมเกล้าเจ้าอยู่หัว กับสมเด็จพระศรีสวรินทิราบรมราชเทวี พระพันวัสสาอัยยิกาเจ้า.
