私がアロマティカスを増やしてみて一番感じたのは、「挿し木は簡単だけど、失敗パターンもだいたい決まってる」ということでした。ここでは“挿し木 失敗”や“伸びすぎ”で困ってる人向けに、追加でポイントを書きます。 ■挿し木で失敗しやすい原因（私がやらかした順） 1) 土がずっとベタベタ：挿した直後はつい水をあげすぎがち。私は最初これで茎が黒っぽくなってダメにしました。目安は「表面が乾いてから少し」。 2) 風通しが悪い：室内の隅に置くと蒸れやすいです。明るい日陰＋風が動く場所に置くと、根が出るまでが早かったです。 3) 挿し穂が長すぎる：長いほど倒れたり、葉が多くて水を吸い上げられずしおれやすい印象。私は10〜15cmくらいに切って、下の葉を少し取ってから挿すと安定しました。 ■「伸びすぎ」問題は切り戻しで解決 アロマティカスは日照が足りないと徒長して間延びしやすいです。私は、茎がひょろっと伸びたら思い切って切り戻し→そのまま挿し木に回しています。 ・切る位置：節（葉が付いているところ）の少し上 ・切った後：親株は脇芽が出てこんもり、挿し穂は新しい株に…で一石二鳥でした。 ■水耕栽培（発根チェックしたい人向け） 「ちゃんと根が出たか見たい」派の私は、最初だけ水挿しにすることもあります。コップに少量の水を入れて、葉が水に浸からないように茎だけ入れるのがコツ。水は濁る前に交換して、根が出てきたら土へ。ずっと水耕で育てる場合も、茎が腐らないように水量少なめ＋こまめな交換が安心でした。 ■ゴキブリ・コバエ対策での置き場所の考え方 「ゴキブリが来なくなる香り」で話題ですが、私の体感では“置いたら絶対いない”というより、「ミントのようないいにおいで不快感が減る」「置き場所を整えるきっかけになる」面が大きいです。 ・おすすめ：玄関、靴箱近く、窓辺（ただし直射日光が強すぎる時期は葉焼け注意） ・コバエ対策：土を過湿にしない、受け皿の水を溜めない。コバエは“湿った土＋有機物”が好きなので、乾き気味管理が効きました。 ■増えすぎ注意：配り先と鉢増しの目安 本当に増えるので、私は「挿し穂を作る数を先に決める」ようにしました。根が回って水切れが早くなったら一回り大きい鉢へ。増えた分は家族や友人におすそ分けすると喜ばれました。 挿し木は“切って、挿して、乾かしすぎず濡らしすぎず”がいちばん大事。慣れると、剪定＝増やす作業になってどんどんワサワサになります。
