Luoyang Bridge in Quanzhou China

If you visit Quanzhou, don’t miss Luoyang Bridge—one of the oldest existing stone bridges in China, with a history of over a thousand years.

When you’re here, take a moment to notice the massive granite slabs paving the bridge. Imagine how people, without modern machinery, managed to build something so remarkable. Look closely at the piers shaped to split the water’s flow—an impressive example of ancient engineering wisdom that still amazes today.

Walk slowly and you’ll spot delicate stone carvings and inscriptions along the bridge. If you come at sunset, golden light washes over the stones and reflects on the water, creating a peaceful, timeless scene. Standing there, it truly feels like stepping back into ancient times#quanzhou #fujian #泉州

... Read moreVisiting Luoyang Bridge offers more than just a glimpse into ancient engineering; it’s a chance to appreciate how human ingenuity thrived centuries ago without modern tools. The massive granite slabs that form the bridge’s surface were painstakingly placed by skilled workers who understood the importance of durability and design. Notably, the piers are thoughtfully shaped to divide the water flow, reducing erosion and extending the bridge’s lifespan, which is a testament to the early designers’ knowledge of hydrodynamics. During my visit, I was particularly struck by the subtle stone carvings etched into the bridge’s sides—each telling stories or marking events from different eras, blending art with utility. The atmosphere around the bridge is serene, especially at sunset when the golden light bathes the stonework and reflects on the gentle waves below, creating an almost ethereal scene. For those interested in traditional Chinese architecture and ancient engineering, Luoyang Bridge is a remarkable site that connects you directly with history. In addition to its structural brilliance, the bridge also plays a role in local culture and tourism. Boat rides along the waterway near Luoyang Bridge offer a unique perspective of the stonework and allow visitors to appreciate its scale from beneath. Many private trips highlight the bridge’s importance, making it a must-see landmark in the Fujian province. Whether you are a history buff, an architecture enthusiast, or simply looking for a peaceful stroll, this bridge with its rich past and stunning surroundings will leave a lasting impression.

What I like to eat for breakfast in China
Goodness, the buns are so good! White, fluffy texture & they have so much more different types of bun filing!! At 白水包子 shop in Xi'an, I had the green chilli with eggplant filling, along with the pork meat filling bun. I wanted the sour cabbage ones as well but they have been sold out.
