My First RG is FINALLY Complete! RG RX-78-2 Ver. 2

Building the RG RX-78-2 Version 2 was truly a test of patience and precision, especially as it was my first Real Grade kit. Using the Stedi water-based panel liner for the first time required a lot of care—not just in application but also in controlling the flow to avoid blotches or smudges. I learned that letting each section dry thoroughly before moving on made a huge difference in the clarity of the panel lines. Applying the G-Rework water decals was another step that demanded steady hands and careful timing. Water decals can be unforgiving if not applied correctly—they can wrinkle or tear easily. I found it helpful to soak the decal just long enough to loosen it from the backing paper but not so long that it became fragile. Using a soft brush or a cotton swab to gently slide the decal into place and then patting it dry carefully made the process smoother. Throughout the build, the RG RX-78-2’s intricate design, including detailed parts marked with codes like EFSF and WB102 from the decals, highlighted why this version is cherished among modelers. Taking time to appreciate these fine details increased my overall satisfaction with the end result. For anyone considering their first Real Grade kit, I recommend allocating a full day or more for panel lining and decal application alone. It’s worth the effort as it significantly enhances the model’s realism and visual impact. This build reminded me why Gunpla building is not just a hobby but also an art that rewards patience with stunning craftsmanship.
