I'm terricited, y'all!
Starting to write can be an intimidating experience, especially when self-doubt creeps in. I remember facing that exact feeling of terror when I first tried to put my thoughts onto paper. The fear of not being good enough, or of not finishing what I started, was overwhelming. However, embracing that initial fear helped me grow as a writer. Instead of avoiding it, I began writing daily, no matter how scared I felt. It was like slowly crossing a long bridge—each step bringing more confidence. Sometimes I’d write about the very fears I had, turning my anxiety into creative fuel. I also found it helpful to connect with communities like those tagged with #booklemon8 and #authorsoflemon. Sharing experiences with other writers reminded me that these feelings are universal, and that everyone has a story worth telling. Additionally, I discovered the power of writing about characters who struggle and persevere — similar to phrases I’ve seen like "the girl with" or "writing them" characters that come alive through challenges. It’s this process of crafting stories about resilience that helped me move past my own fears and embrace writing fully. If you’re terricited (terrified and excited) like I was, remember that writing is a journey. Your voice is important, and every word you write is a step forward. Whether you’re working on novels or simple daily reflections, keep going. The feeling of accomplishment when you finish is worth every scared moment along the way.
