My 2026 cosplay list

1/14 Edited to

... Read morePlanning out my cosplay list for the year is always one of my favorite parts of the hobby! There's something so thrilling about picking out characters you're passionate about and imagining how you'll bring them to life. For 2026, I've got some really exciting projects lined up that I can't wait to share with everyone. First up, I'm absolutely hyped for my 'Fem Jabber' cosplay. Those long dark dreadlocks and the incredibly detailed purple and white outfit with that large, intricate belt have been living in my head rent-free! I know crafting all those details will be a huge undertaking, especially getting the fabric textures right and making sure the belt is both sturdy and comfortable. It’s definitely a challenge, but that’s part of what makes it so rewarding. I've been looking at reference images constantly to pinpoint every stitch and accessory. Another character I'm determined to bring to life is Sukuna. The dramatic makeup and the powerful presence he exudes are going to be key. I'm already researching different body paint techniques and how to get those iconic markings to last through a whole convention day. It’s all about capturing that fierce essence! I'm also looking forward to Yoichi Isagi. My main goal for this one is 'better wig styling.' I want to really perfect that spiky, dynamic look that defines his character. I've been watching countless tutorials on cutting, styling, and using styling products to ensure the wig holds its shape perfectly. It’s a subtle detail, but it makes all the difference. Tamsy, with that cool gas mask and dark jacket, is another fantastic addition to my list. This gives me a great opportunity to dive into prop making, which I always enjoy. I'm thinking about how to create a realistic yet comfortable gas mask, and maybe even adding some subtle weathering to the jacket to give it that authentic, worn-in look. And then there's Mao Mao, with her beautiful teal hair and traditional outfit. Finding the perfect shades for her costume and the right flowy fabric is going to be a fun hunt! And for those who love tactical gear, Hoshina is on the list! Crafting his gas mask and those impressive blades will be an exciting challenge. I'm envisioning using lightweight materials for the props so they're easy to carry around at cons. The attention to detail on military-style outfits can be immense, but I love getting lost in it. For anyone else planning their own cosplay adventures, my biggest piece of advice is to start early and break down each costume into smaller, manageable steps. Don't be afraid to try new techniques – there are so many amazing resources and tutorials online for everything from advanced sewing to wig styling and prop making. Even if it's your first time tackling a 'new cosplay' project, every step you take teaches you something valuable. The support from the cosplay community, especially for black cosplayers, is incredible. It’s amazing to share tips, celebrate successes, and help each other grow. I can't wait to see all these come together for the cons!
