Being and becoming wild have made people look askance at the September 11th, 2001, exhibition at the 9/11 memorial/museum. The immigrant narrative in the exhibition has made Israel Palestine conflicts even more controversial. The photography and videos show immigrants as the primary targets of governmental policies. Thus incentivized people to make works and claims about the Israel Palestine conflicts through graphic images and imageries. It oftentimes challenges people’s views about the immigrants as a potential labour force in today’s economy. Etc.
Visiting the 9/11 memorial and museum offers a profound opportunity to reflect on the impact of September 11th, 2001, not only in terms of loss but also in understanding its ripple effects on communities, especially immigrants. What struck me deeply during my visit was how the exhibition highlighted immigrants as central figures affected by subsequent government policies. This perspective sheds light on a less-discussed aspect of 9/11’s legacy — the shaping of immigration discourse and policies. The exhibition’s use of photography and video effectively communicates the struggles faced by immigrant communities. It brings attention to how fears post-9/11 sometimes translated into policies that targeted immigrants disproportionately, fostering feelings of exclusion and suspicion. This narrative connects intriguingly with contemporary debates on global conflicts such as the Israel-Palestine tensions, which the exhibition indirectly references. The portrayal of immigrants as both victims and contributors to society challenges visitors to reconsider their preconceived notions about labor, nationality, and belonging. From a personal viewpoint, the exhibit compelled me to think about how historical trauma affects social dynamics and policy-making years later. It also inspired me to explore art as a medium to express complex geopolitical and social issues. The graphic imagery enhances emotional engagement, making the history tangible and urging visitors to empathize with those impacted beyond the immediate tragedy. Overall, the 9/11 memorial exhibition offers a multifaceted exploration of history, identity, and politics. It invites diverse interpretations and encourages meaningful dialogue about immigration, conflict, and human rights — topics that remain urgent and relevant today.
