Being wild, September 11th, 2001, the 9/11 memorial/museum

C magazine review

Yuling Chen

2026 April 4th

Being and becoming wild have made people look askance at the September 11th, 2001, exhibition at the 9/11 memorial/museum. The immigrant narrative in the exhibition has made Israel Palestine conflicts even more controversial. The photography and videos show immigrants as the primary targets of governmental policies. Thus incentivized people to make works and claims about the Israel Palestine conflicts through graphic images and imageries. It oftentimes challenges people’s views about the immigrants as a potential labour force in today’s economy. Etc.

... Read moreVisiting the 9/11 Memorial Museum offers a profound opportunity to reflect not only on the tragic events of September 11th but also on the broader societal issues that intertwine with this history. One striking aspect of the museum’s exhibition is how it centers the immigrant experience, depicting immigrants as both victims and integral participants in the aftermath and ongoing consequences of 9/11. From a personal standpoint, the exhibition invites visitors to confront complex emotions and thoughts about immigration policies and how these are influenced by national security concerns. The visual media—photographs and videos—are particularly impactful in illustrating the real human stories behind headlines, showing immigrants navigating government scrutiny, fear, and prejudice while contributing to the economy as essential labor forces. Moreover, the inclusion of themes related to the Israel-Palestine conflict within the exhibition can feel jarring yet significant. It underscores how global conflicts often echo within local immigrant communities, influencing public perception and political discourse. The graphic imagery prompts deep reflection on how conflict narratives are constructed and the role media and art play in shaping understanding and empathy—or sometimes controversy. As someone interested in art and social justice, I found that the exhibition’s bold approach challenges conventional museum storytelling by layering history with contemporary political issues. It serves as a reminder that remembrance is not static; it involves continuous dialogue about who we are as a society and how we treat the ‘other.’ For those planning to visit, I recommend taking time to absorb the multimedia displays and consider the multiple perspectives presented. Engaging with this exhibition can inspire conversations not just about the tragedy itself but about immigration, identity, and global politics in an interconnected world. It’s an experience that deepens awareness and invites ongoing reflection beyond the museum walls.

🚨 PA’s 911 System Is Down??
Just saw that Pennsylvania’s entire 911 system is having major issues statewide right now. Like… people are literally calling 911 and getting nothing. No connection. No help. Residents are being told to call local non-emergency numbers or alternate emergency lines for now. This is actually ter

A phone lock screen displays an emergency alert from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency about a statewide intermittent 911 outage. It advises contacting local non-emergency lines. The screen shows the time 3:30 PM, Friday, July 11, with a dog's face in the background.

911 is down?!?
I was trapped in the elevator. The state’s 911 system is down. They’re just saying to call your local police department’s number if you have an emergency and can’t get through on 911. How odd that it just happens to be National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. And guys, if you can’t access
