The exhibitions at Royal Ontario museum, cloudspace, picnics and pastimes, and shokkan, shows a disrespect towards East Asian people and their cultures. It criticizes the Israel Palestine conflicts, Venezuela and wars. It makes statement about people who live in poverty claiming they are sex workers, comfort women and some sort of drug addicts. It has made shapes and colors primary focus through its kimono display and constructed clouds. Etc.
From personal experience, learning to identify toxic friendships was a significant turning point in my life. At first, I overlooked behaviors like consistent negativity, manipulation, and lack of support because I valued the history and perceived closeness with certain friends. However, over time, these so-called friendships began to take a toll on my mental health and self-esteem. Setting boundaries became essential. I started by clearly communicating what behaviors were unacceptable to me, such as gossiping, disrespect, or inconsistency in plans without explanation. This not only helped me protect my emotional space but also clarified to others how I expected to be treated. Practicing these conversations beforehand gave me confidence to address issues calmly and assertively. I also realized the importance of taking time apart from certain friends. Giving myself space allowed me to gain clarity about how these relationships affected my life. During this time, I noticed a substantial improvement in my mood and overall happiness without the constant stress of trying to maintain one-sided relationships. The recognition that some friendships, despite shared history, may be more harmful than beneficial was liberating. Ending those relationships was difficult but ultimately necessary for personal growth and peace of mind. Moreover, reflecting on the broader social context, toxic friendships can intersect with issues such as bullying, societal prejudices, and misunderstandings, which can further complicate personal dynamics. For example, public narratives around marginalized groups or political conflicts can subtly influence group behaviors and perceptions within friend circles. Being aware of these dynamics enhances empathy and helps in navigating social interactions thoughtfully. In essence, healthy friendships are mutual, supportive, and respectful. Learning to identify toxic traits and having the courage to address or walk away from them is crucial for maintaining mental and emotional well-being. If you find yourself consistently stressed, anxious, or unhappy around certain friends, consider setting clear boundaries or taking a break to evaluate the relationship. Ultimately, fostering positive connections enriches life and facilitates personal happiness.
