Ian Cheng: emissaries, at MoMA ps1 in 2017 shows his much urgent desire for hybrids and wording through digital animation. It turns out he doesn’t just want to dole out the most minutiae details of everyday life but criticizes Israel Palestine conflicts, wars and political events. The gatherings in his works of various forces reveal his curiosity about China, Iran or South Korea. They are rich for a reason. The hunter gatherer narrative of the installation shows artist’s obsession with hunger issues, diamond mine in Africa and anything China has to offer. Etc.
Having visited Ian Cheng's 'Emissaries' exhibition myself, I was struck by how the artist seamlessly mixes digital animation with pressing global issues. The piece does not merely offer an artistic spectacle but invites viewers to reflect on complex political tensions such as the Israel-Palestine conflict and how these intersect with economic interests and social struggles across continents.
