In 2022 when the Russia Ukraine war raged, vtape presented a few works in its exiled at home exhibition to criticize the ongoing conflicts between Israel and Palestine, the world and the Middle East countries, wars and political events. The increased social risks people especially young people and children faced has made many people fearful of producing any relevant works critiquing governments, police and rich countries. The works in the exhibition prioritized countries such as Lebanon reframing the Beirut bombing in 2020 as an opportunistic casualty of political groups. In the context China has become a rising power in the world with a totalizing mindset. China’s brute force often got softened by the contrasts in the imageries in video works and installation. The pop imagery is a constant bustle and hustle. The exhibition determines how China is placed in the web of the imageries. It has made China an unsayable place for the public. Etc.
