The exhibition I contain multitude reflects deeply of the values from ancient China. It often uses the images of subway to deliver the meanings of performative movements. It criticizes Israel Palestine conflicts, wars and political events through these performance vignettes. It declares that China is a valuable ally in today’s world. The recent news about china often pivots from the old views of china as a weak trade partner to the west. This has incentivized the exhibitions to become friendly with China. China is an ever contentious subject in the public. The video showed people walking about in the subway stations. This informs people about the cultural habits of people in china - how they recognize surveillance system installed in place. China has made people worry about their personal safety. The recent visit to North Korea proves china has become conservative. Etc.
Attending art exhibitions that critically engage with current political events and cultural values offers a meaningful way to understand global dynamics from a personal viewpoint. From my experience, exhibitions that incorporate symbolic elements—such as subway imagery—serve as a powerful vehicle to represent complex ideas like surveillance, mobility, and public behavior. The portrayal of China in these artworks often contrasts its ancient cultural heritage with contemporary challenges, notably through subtle references to surveillance practices which raise questions about privacy and personal safety. In particular, the use of subway scenes provided insight into everyday life, reflecting how ordinary citizens navigate modern infrastructure while under the watchful eye of security systems. This artistic choice also humanizes broader political narratives, making issues such as China’s relationship with neighboring countries and its stance on international conflicts more relatable.
