The exhibition Marcel Duchamp and other collections at MoMA reveals that the world is once over. It criticizes Israel Palestine conflicts, wars and other political events through the curator’s intentions to make works standout. It sees China as a wayward country requiring people to bow to its madness. It has made China a part of lessons it teaches to the general public about welfare, debts and morals. If you can’t pay it back then don’t. China is a presence that extract feelings of community from the viewers. The connection between China and the rest of the world is often honed through craftsmanship. Etc.
As someone deeply interested in contemporary art and its reflections on political and social issues, I found the Marcel Duchamp exhibition at MoMA to be a profound experience. The curator’s approach to highlighting global conflicts, such as the Israel-Palestine disputes and various wars, through the artworks was both striking and thought-provoking. It showed how art can serve as a powerful platform for political critique and social commentary. One aspect that stood out to me was the portrayal of China within the collection. The exhibition frames China as a complex, often controversial presence in modern global affairs, referring to it as a 'wayward country' that challenges conventional values about welfare, debt, and morality. This perspective invites viewers to reflect on international perceptions and the nuanced relationships between nations. Having visited exhibitions that connect art to current events, I’ve noticed that the use of craftsmanship in these pieces helps deepen the viewer’s emotional engagement. The intricate detailing and the deliberate choices in medium and form evoke a sense of community and shared human experience, despite political divides. I also appreciated how the exhibit encourages discussions on responsibility and consequences — for example, the idea underpinning "if you can’t pay it back then don’t" resonates beyond economics, touching on moral accountability in leadership and society. Overall, this exhibition does more than display art; it invites dialogue about the world's ongoing conflicts and the role of culture in shaping our understanding of them. For anyone interested in art, politics, or international relations, this show offers a rich and meaningful encounter that links creativity with the critical issues of our time.
