Here's my other 3D cross stitch method, which one is your favourite? Or which one do you want to try?
In my experience with 3D cross stitching, using plastic canvas really opens up creative possibilities beyond traditional flat embroidery. One tip I’ve found essential is cutting a long strip of canvas to stitch diagonally along the sides — this not only saves time but helps maintain a crisp shape for complex designs like Kpop-themed patterns, including those inspired by Ateez and Mighteez. Stuffing is another crucial step that I personally recommend; adding a bit of fiberfill inside keeps the stitched sides firm and prevents them from looking squished or floppy. When stitching the front and back pieces, taking care to line up the holes precisely with your needle guides ensures a seamless finish that really highlights the 3D effect. I also like incorporating beads intermittently through the embroidery floss to add dimensional sparkle, especially when working on detailed motifs. Remember, consistency is key — stitching all the way around one side before moving to the other avoids unnecessary back-and-forth, giving your work neat edges. Overall, this 3D approach transforms cross stitching into a tactile art form that’s visually striking and perfect for displaying or gifting. Whether you are new to crafting or looking to try a new technique, this method is both fun and rewarding to practice.
