🏠 Reno Journey Update (Part 2) – More Surprises 😮💨
Just when I thought things couldn't get more stressful, we discovered that the laminate colour used for our carpentry was WRONG.
The actual laminate installed was a totally different shade from the approved sample. We immediately contacted our ID to rectify the issue. She mentioned that she would discuss it with the contractor, but only got back to us the next working day after we followed up for an update.
What disappointed me most wasn't just the mistake itself, but the lack of accountability. There wasn't even a simple apology for such an obvious error. I also asked how the wrong laminate could have been used in the first place, but my question was completely ignored.
The proposed solution? Overlaying new laminates over the existing ones. At this point, I'm honestly not sure how the final result will turn out.
The handover date remains as originally schedule at a week later, but there are still quite a few things left to complete. Such as defect rectifications, painting touch-ups, remaining electrical works, laminate rectification, and final cleaning.
I asked if the handover could be arranged just one day earlier due to my schedule. The response I received was simply: "It is my off day."
I even suggested a weekend handover as an alternative, but there was no reply after that.
At this stage, I'm feeling more anxious than excited about my new home. Every update seems to bring a new issue, and communication has been one of the biggest frustrations throughout this renovation journey.
Really hoping the final handover goes smoothly, but confidence is honestly running low right now.

Oh no, pls share the ID firm so that I can avoid 😅, thanks
