Songs that built the book

Every chapter has a sound.

Some songs found me before I knew why. Others showed up exactly when the scene needed them. This trilogy isn't just written , it's scored.

Here are three songs that hold entire books inside them. There are more. Many more.

What song would you want on a book soundtrack? Tell me below. 🥃🎶

... Read moreMusic has a unique way of capturing emotion and atmosphere, which is why pairing songs with storytelling can profoundly enhance the reader's experience. When I write or read, I often compile a playlist that reflects the mood, characters, or major plot points. For instance, in this trilogy, songs like "Je te laisserai des mots" by Patrick Watson evoke the tension and vulnerability of a critical moment—where the character realizes someone is standing between her and danger. This track brings an intimate, haunting feeling to life that words alone might not fully convey. Similarly, "What Was I Made For?" by Billie Eilish embodies the character's decades-long search for identity and answers, giving voice to internal struggles. These melodies don't just accompany the book; they build the emotional architecture of the narrative. Another featured song, "The Wisp Sings" by Winter Aid, perfectly captures the eerie invitation and foggy anticipation before a pivotal door opens, symbolizing mystery and change. This blending of sound and story invites readers into a multisensory experience. Personally, integrating music into the creative process deepens my connection to the work. It also allows readers to engage with the story on another level, with songs acting as emotional anchors or mood setters. Many authors and creators share curated playlists to accompany their works, enhancing immersion. What makes a song fit as part of a book soundtrack? It’s often about timing, mood, and the personal resonance it holds for the creator or characters. Sometimes a song finds you unexpectedly, perfectly capturing a scene or theme you hadn’t foreseen. If you’ve ever felt a story was incomplete without a soundtrack, you’re not alone. Music and narrative are intertwined arts that together can create a richer, more immersive experience. I’d love to hear which songs you think would build a book’s world or soundtrack your favorite stories—music truly has the power to shape how we experience tales.
