So much history and I’m so glad my babies got to experience something their dad helped create with his own hands.

This playground was built in September of 1997…their dad was 14yrs old, one year older than our eldest child…their feels I felt, we felt, was unreal. I’m so happy they were able to have this time.

... Read moreThat day, watching my kids enjoying the playground their Daddy helped build, was more than just a trip to the park; it was a profound journey into our past and a beautiful step forward in our healing. For me, this particular playground isn't just a place for swings and slides; it's become a powerful symbol. It symbolizes the enduring love of a father, the simple joys of childhood, and the unexpected ways memories can bloom when you least expect them. When their dad, my amazing husband, helped build this playground when he was just 14, he probably never imagined his own children would one day be laughing and playing on it. It’s incredible to think about the hands that shaped these structures, the effort and care he put into it as a young boy. Now, seeing our children run across the same grounds, climbing on the very beams he might have helped hoist, it’s like a piece of him is right there with us. It’s a tangible link, a silent storyteller of his youth and his generous spirit. For children navigating grief, these kinds of connections are priceless. It's not always about grand gestures; sometimes, it's about the small, everyday places that hold a piece of someone special. This playground allows them to feel close to their daddy, even if they never got to know him as fully as I did. They’re not just playing; they’re experiencing a part of his legacy, absorbing his essence through the literal ground they stand on. It helps bridge the gap, making his memory a living, breathing part of their lives rather than just a story. I've learned that healing isn't linear, and it often comes in these unexpected, heartwarming waves. Finding joy in these moments, seeing their innocent happiness, is a huge part of our healing journey. It reminds me that love truly transcends, and even in absence, presence can be found. Sharing stories about their daddy, about how he contributed to this place, makes him real and present for them. It’s a beautiful way to ensure his memory is cherished and celebrated, not just mourned. This experience has taught me the incredible power of places to hold memories and emotions. A playground can be so much more than just a recreation area; it can be a sanctuary, a monument to love, and a space for healing. Every time we visit, it's a reminder of the beautiful young man he was and the incredible father he became, even in spirit. It’s a place where laughter mixes with a gentle sense of remembrance, and where my kids are truly enjoying the enduring gift their Daddy helped build all those years ago.
