GETTING DRESSED FOR GOD TAKES TIME
God is preparing more than your appearance—He’s preparing your character.
📖 Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
We spend time getting dressed because we want to present ourselves well. We choose our clothes, fix our hair, and make sure everything is in place before we leave the house.
But becoming the woman God created you to be doesn’t happen in front of a mirror.
It happens in the process.
When the Apostle Paul tells us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, he reminds us that spiritual beauty isn’t something we put on overnight. It’s DEVELOPED one decision, one prayer, and one act of obedience at a time.
We often want God to change our circumstances while He’s focused on changing our character.
Getting dressed for God takes time.
He patiently removes what doesn’t belong, strengthens what is weak, and shapes us into women who reflect Christ. Every season, every challenge, and every delay becomes part of the fitting process.
Don’t rush what God is tailoring.
The woman He’s preparing is worth the wait.

Reflecting on my own spiritual journey, I've realized that getting dressed for God truly means embracing a deep, ongoing transformation—not something superficial or instant. Just like choosing clothes carefully prepares us to face the day, cultivating qualities like compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience shapes us to reflect Christ’s character more fully. This transformation often feels gradual and challenging, especially when life's difficulties test our faith and patience. One insight I’ve gained is that every trial and delay serves as part of God’s tailoring process. Patience isn’t simply waiting; it's what helps me develop inner strength and love while God removes habits and attitudes that don’t belong. For instance, moments of frustration or disappointment become opportunities to practice humility and gentleness rather than reacting hastily. This aligns closely with the scripture from Colossians 3:12, reminding us to clothe ourselves intentionally, day by day, with virtues that reveal God’s presence within us. Moreover, prayers and conscious decisions to live out these virtues truly help the process. I’ve found that when I focus prayerfully on aligning my heart with Christ’s character, the changes become more apparent—not just to me but to those around me. This spiritual 'dressing' requires ongoing effort, not unlike picking an outfit for a special occasion; it’s worth the care and time invested. The transformation isn’t visible in a mirror but is evident through actions, attitudes, and a peaceful confidence that comes from trusting God’s preparation. In essence, getting dressed for God is a beautiful, patient journey of becoming the person He created us to be. It involves understanding that our spiritual beauty isn’t a quick fix, but a lifelong process. Every day is an opportunity to wear the character of Christ, reflecting compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience as a beautiful garment prepared with divine care.
