Things we did to help our older kids adjust to bby
When they entered our hospital room we made sure we weren’t holding baby, we let them choose if they wanted to go see him in the bassinet. We didn’t push them to hold baby. We really focused on letting them choose what they wanted to do. If they expressed interest we encouraged them and praised them! But also let them pick what they wanted to do with baby or without, and wanted them to feel in control of the situation. We tried our best to also give them attention. Which is easier said than done! I really wanted the older kiddos to feel important too! We still do this (now two months later) we try our best to take the older kids on little “dates” just one on one.
I am by no means an expert! These are just things that I personally found helpful for our family. Although regression is completely normal with adding a sibling! Both of my older kids regressed a little and I try not to focus on it too much so long as it isn’t aggressive / violent. I learned that it usually takes 2-3 months for them to fully understand the change and that’s typically when they start to act out, or regress.
Adding a baby isn’t easy, but I will say it is so amazing watching my kids learn to love their little brother!

Remember, every family dynamic is unique; what works for one may not work for another. Stay observant to your children's needs and remain flexible in your approach to help cultivate a nurturing environment that values each member's feelings. Cultivating sibling love and solidarity takes time, but with thoughtful actions, it can blossom into a beautiful bond.
