New baby born today

Oh my goodness, you guys! Today was truly special on the farm because we welcomed a brand new life into the world, and I just had to share all the sweet details. Our beautiful brown and white baby calf, whom we lovingly named Della, made her grand entrance this morning! Seeing her take her very first wobbly steps on those soft hay bales was absolutely heartwarming. You can just feel the excitement and anticipation when a new baby cow arrives – it’s a moment of pure magic and a testament to the cycles of life on the farm. Her first day has been a whirlwind of adorable discoveries. She's been busy exploring her immediate surroundings, sniffing everything with her tiny nose, and bonding with her mama. It's incredible to witness that instant connection – the way her mother licks her clean and nudges her, guiding her to stand. We've been making sure she's warm and safe, especially under the clear blue sky we had today – perfect weather for a new beginning! Ensuring she gets enough colostrum from her mother in these first crucial hours is super important for her health, giving her all the antibodies she needs to start strong. It's a busy but incredibly rewarding time for us here. Every little twitch of her ear and every curious glance just melts your heart. Watching a 'first day baby' calf is one of the most incredible experiences on a farm. You see their instincts kick in almost immediately. Della was up on her feet surprisingly quickly, which is always a good sign. We keep a close eye on them to ensure she's nursing well and getting all the nutrition she needs. It’s also fascinating to see how the other animals on the farm react to a new arrival – sometimes curious, sometimes just carrying on with their day, but there's definitely a shift in the energy. We’ve set up a cozy, clean space for her and her mom, making sure they have plenty of fresh water and food. The initial hours are all about making sure she’s strong and healthy, and that her mother is comfortable.
