We said Goodbye 💔
We laid Piano to rest a few weeks ago. The little lamb who beat the odds for as long as she could.
Fred came along and stayed close—like he always seems to know when we’re carrying something heavy.
There’s been a shift lately. Not just on the farm, but in the parts of life I rarely talk about. And while it’s opening space for something new… it’s also closing a door I never wanted to admit had rotted through.
Some days I feel okay. Other days, I just feel… tired. Of trying. Of trusting. Of pushing through waves no one else sees.
If you’re carrying something too—you’re not alone. 🤍

Saying goodbye to a beloved animal like Piano is a deeply personal and emotional experience. On our farm, each loss feels like the closing of a cherished chapter and the opening of space for new growth, even when it’s hard to see at first. I’ve learned that grieving in this quiet way often comes with mixed emotions—some days feel hopeful, while others are shadowed with fatigue and sorrow. Fred’s presence through this time has been a gentle reminder that support can come in the most subtle forms. Animals, much like people, seem to sense when we’re carrying burdens, and having that silent companion by my side made the journey a little easier. For anyone going through grief, whether it’s the loss of a pet, a family member, or a life chapter, it’s important to allow yourself grace on the tough days. The northwest corner of our property, where Piano now rests under an old tree, has become a space of reflection and peace for me. Visiting this spot helps me feel connected to her memory and to the rhythms of life and loss on the farm. From experience, I’d say that grief is not linear; it ebbs and flows like waves we must learn to navigate with patience. Sharing our stories and feelings, even in small ways like this post, can be a source of healing and connection. If you’re carrying something heavy, I hope you allow yourself time to heal and reach out when you need to. You're not alone in this.

❤️ 🥺 thank you for sharing your heart, your hurt and you hurdles. I think in one way or another we are all going through it right now… the world itself feels chaotic and on the brink of collapse itself. It’s hard to find normality, peace and stability in the day to day when everything around feels unsafe in some way. I just keep reminding myself that literally nothing in life is guaranteed. We go to bed at night assuming the sun will rise and with it so will we and the rest of the world, as it has done since the dawn of time… because it has thus far, but things happen. Unseen, unexpected, unpredictable things and *poof* it’s changed and in the instant nothing will ever be the same again. When we can learn to find peace and solace amongst the chaos… we can make it through anything❤️ I’m sorry for your loss. If it helps, we are and all of creation is made up of the same galactic energy. We are not a singular amongst many experiences, we are many, intricately entwined, having a singular experience. Your little Piano was a part of that experience, however briefly, to fulfill her purpose in her short time with us. Whatever it was she came to teach, I’m positive she taught it well❤️
