... Read moreFilling your cup isn't just about solo activities; sometimes, the best way to recharge is by connecting with your favorite people! While my original post focused on my personal rituals, I wanted to share how I also incorporate "girl time" into my self-care routine. After all, quality time with friends is a huge part of feeling refreshed and understood.
You might be thinking, "What kind of 'hanging out' fills your cup?" For me, it's about intentional connection, much like a casual evening "nongkrong" session. It doesn't always have to be a big night out; sometimes, the simplest gatherings are the most profound.
One of my absolute favorites is a Creative Craft Night. Remember how much I love to "pull out my craft cart"? Imagine doing that with friends! We'll gather at someone's place (often after dinner, stretching into the evening), each bringing our current project – whether it's embroidery like mine, knitting, sketching, or even just brainstorming new ideas. We chat, listen to some chill music, and just enjoy the company while our hands are busy. It's so relaxing and inspiring to see what everyone else is working on. It’s a perfect blend of creativity and connection.
Another amazing idea for an evening "hangout" is a DIY Pamper Party. Taking inspiration from my "self care time" with skincare tools and getting "my nails done," we turn a regular evening into a mini home spa. We’ll pick up some fun face masks, try out new nail polish shades, and maybe even give each other mini hand massages. It's a low-key way to unwind, share beauty tips, and just laugh together. Plus, you leave feeling pampered and closer to your friends!
If we're feeling more laid-back, a Cozy Staycation & Movie Marathon is always a hit. Like my "take a staycation" idea, but shared! Imagine comfy pajamas, blankets, a big bowl of popcorn, and a favorite TV series or movie marathon. This is where "makeup + a side of housewives" comes in handy – sometimes, it's just about chilling out and enjoying some lighthearted entertainment with your besties. It's a fantastic way to escape the everyday without leaving town.
We also love to Arrange Flowers together. Sometimes, we’ll grab some fresh blooms from the market in the afternoon, and then in the evening, we’ll gather to create beautiful bouquets. It’s a very mindful and calming activity, and it’s lovely to share the process and admire each other’s creations. Everyone gets to go home with a beautiful arrangement, and we’ve had some quality time bonding.
And of course, there's the classic Coffee or Tea Talk. While "meet up for girl time" often happens during the day, extending it into the evening for a decaf coffee or herbal tea session is equally wonderful. Just sitting, catching up, sharing stories, and offering support can be incredibly therapeutic. It’s amazing how much a good conversation can lift your spirits and make you feel less alone.
Including these shared experiences in your routine is just as important as your solo self-care moments. They reinforce friendships, reduce stress, and truly help "fill your cup" in a different, equally vital way. So, next time you're planning to recharge, consider inviting your friends to one of these evening "nongkrong" activities. You'll thank yourself for it!
