Starting a small business has always been a dream of mine, and finally taking the plunge to sell my handmade crafts locally feels incredibly rewarding. I’ve been creating unique bracelets—both simple and with charms—alongside anklets, homemade stickers, and adorable crochet animals of various sizes. Pricing ranges from $0.50 for stickers to $15 for extra-large crochet animals, which allows customers to choose based on their preferences and budgets. Selling in person has its own charm because it enables me to directly connect with customers, get immediate feedback, and build relationships that online sales can sometimes lack. Summer is the perfect time to explore markets, fairs, and community events where I can showcase my products and engage with shoppers face-to-face. One key lesson I’ve learned so far is the importance of presentation and knowing your target audience. Crafting an appealing display and packaging your items carefully can significantly impact customer interest and sales. Also, being open to customizing bracelets or creating special orders adds a personal touch that many buyers appreciate. As I plan to transition toward online sales later, I’m researching the best platforms and marketing strategies to grow my business without losing the personal connection I value so much. This experience is teaching me not only about crafting but also about entrepreneurship, customer service, and time management.
