why middle school....why me?...

2/21 Edited to

... Read moreMiddle school can often feel like a rollercoaster of emotions, and it's not uncommon to experience moments when everything just feels too overwhelming. During these tough times, you might find yourself disconnecting from others, craving silence amid the noise, or simply wishing to escape the hustle and bustle of the school day. I've noticed that when sensory input gets too loud—noises, conversations, the crowded hallways—it can literally cause a headache and emotional overload. One thing that helped me was recognizing these moments early and allowing myself small breaks whenever possible, even if just mentally retreating for a few seconds to breathe deeply or focus on something calming. Reaching out quietly to a counselor or a trusted teacher can make a difference, too—sometimes just knowing someone understands helps lighten the load. Also, remember that these feelings are valid and common. Many students go through similar experiences, even if they don’t openly talk about it. Finding safe ways to express frustrations—whether through journaling, art, or talking with friends who get it—can be powerful. Importantly, you don't have to face these feelings alone, and gradually you'll develop your own strategies to navigate middle school’s ups and downs with more confidence.
