Time to teach

I just walk in ready to PERFORM!!! I try and be the teacher I would want my own kids to have. I give it my best. Yes, of course I’m depleted at the end of the day but I love my job and I don’t want to do anything else. #teacher #teacherlife #spanishteacher #mexico #highschool

... Read moreStepping into the classroom each morning, it truly feels like showtime. It's more than just delivering a lesson; it's about connecting, inspiring, and yes, sometimes even performing to keep those high schoolers engaged! My approach is simple: I strive to be the teacher I would want for my own kids – dedicated, enthusiastic, and genuinely caring. It’s a constant balancing act, but when I see a student's eyes light up as they grasp a new concept in Spanish, or confidently construct a sentence, all the effort feels incredibly worthwhile. The energy I expend teaching often leaves me depleted by the end of the day, but it’s a good kind of tired. It’s the feeling of having given my all, stretched my creativity, and fostered growth. Being a Spanish teacher, especially in high school, offers a unique opportunity to explore not just language, but also rich cultures. We delve into the vibrant traditions of Mexico and other Spanish-speaking countries, making the learning experience truly immersive. It’s not just about conjugating verbs; it’s about opening up a whole new world for my students, helping them to see beyond their immediate surroundings. Beyond the classroom, I find my balance and recharge through a few passions of my own. I love to travel, exploring new places and experiencing different cultures firsthand. This not only fuels my soul but also gives me richer, more authentic stories to share with my students about the countries whose languages we're studying. I'm also an avid reader, always looking for a good book to get lost in, and I enjoy hiking, which connects me with nature and provides a much-needed mental break. These interests aren't just for me; they often find their way into my lessons, making the content more relatable and showing my students that learning extends far beyond textbooks. To keep my students engaged and make learning dynamic, I’m always exploring new tools. I've found that incorporating gamified learning platforms, like Blooket.it, can transform a review session into an exciting competition. It’s incredible to see how a little friendly rivalry can boost participation and understanding, making 'Time to teach' truly interactive and unforgettable. These digital tools, combined with traditional methods and a sprinkle of cultural immersion, help create a learning environment where curiosity thrives. It’s a job where no two days are ever the same, and that's precisely why I wouldn't want to do anything else.
