Do this when the narcissist makes you feel guilty #narctok

6/18 Edited to

... Read moreFeeling guilty after interactions with a narcissist is a common experience among those recovering from narcissistic abuse. This guilt, however, is often not an indicator of wrongdoing on your part but rather a programmed response designed to keep you compliant and under control. Whenever you notice that pang of guilt after asserting your boundaries or prioritizing your own needs, pause and reflect on the real source of that feeling. In my personal journey through recovery, I found it helpful to actively question: "How does this guilt benefit the narcissist?" This question shifts your mindset from self-blame to awareness of manipulation. Since guilt is often used by narcissists as a tool to enforce obedience, recognizing this tactic is empowering. Another practical approach is to remind yourself that guilt in this context does not serve as a moral compass. Instead, it acts as a psychological leash, a way to keep you tethered to their expectations and control. When setting boundaries, expect some discomfort, but also remember that this discomfort fades with practice and self-compassion. I also recommend engaging with support groups or resources focusing on narcissistic abuse recovery. Many communities offer free masterclasses and workshops that teach how to stop gaslighting yourself and reclaim your emotional autonomy. These tools can reinforce your understanding and provide practical steps to build resilience against manipulation. Ultimately, healing is about shifting from feeling like a victim to becoming an empowered individual. Recognizing guilt as a conditioned response rather than a justified feeling is a critical step in this transformation. By questioning and detaching from guilt, you reclaim your voice and your right to healthy relationships.

A notebook page titled "Four agreements #2 Don't take things Personally." It explains that people's behavior is a projection of their reality, not a reflection of your worth, often stemming from their history, fears, and unresolved trauma.
The Second Agreement-Don’t Take Things Personally
One of the hardest lessons… but one that changes everything. For so long, I thought other people’s reactions were a reflection of me my worth, my effort, my mistakes but this agreement reminds me that: 💜 People behave from their own wounds 💜 Their tone, distance, or mood is often about their
