Slow-paced Beijing Itinerary

Visited Beijing on a tight schedule and only covered the higlights.

If you have a day or 2 to spare, l'd recommend dedicating an entire day for the Forbidden City as half a day can be quite rushed if you want to cover the entire place.

If you're not a POP Mart fan, an alternative can be Universal Studios Beijing.

Save this post for your next trip and follow for more tried-and-tested itineraries!

... Read moreIf you have more time in Beijing beyond the highlights, consider pacing your visit with these tips for a richer experience. Start your mornings at iconic sites like the Temple of Heaven or the Summer Palace to enjoy cooler temperatures and fewer crowds. Splitting your Forbidden City visit into a morning and afternoon session can help you appreciate its vastness without fatigue. For families or those looking for something different, a day trip to Mutianyu Great Wall offers breathtaking views and a chance to enjoy nature outside the city hustle. If you’re interested in cultural immersion, try a Hanfu photo shoot or visit POP Land for unique experiences and souvenirs. Transport-wise, using Beijing’s efficient subway system can save you time and provide a stress-free way to navigate the city. Don’t forget to try popular local snacks along the way, which add to the authentic feel of your trip. Finally, being flexible with your schedule allows you to embrace the slow, vibrant vibes of Beijing — giving you memories that go beyond the typical tourist checklist.

🇨🇳 Mutianyu Great Wall of China, without the crowd
To beat the crowds, simply go when it opens. You don’t have to arrive super early because the ticketing counter is right at the entrance (after getting dropped off from didi). Didi was affordable, even for the lux didi option, especially after splitting the fare 4 ways. There wasn’t much of

Brunch at Summer Hill just hits different ☀️🥐 They do a Friday and weekend brunch buffet, but what really sets it apart is how everything is served. Instead of walking up to a buffet line, the dishes are rolled out one by one on a trolley straight to your table. You get to try one of every dish
