... Read moreBuilding in The Sims 4 is one of my absolute favorite things to do, and I've recently fallen in love with the aesthetic of above-ground pools. They just add such a modern, chic touch to any backyard, especially if you're working with smaller lots or want something a bit different from the standard in-ground options. Plus, knowing you can achieve a truly functional above-ground pool without needing any custom content (CC) is such a game-changer! One of the biggest advantages of going CC-free is the peace of mind. I used to spend hours downloading CC, only for a game update to break everything. With these builds, you never have to worry about that. Everything uses base game items or expansion pack features, ensuring your pool works perfectly every time. And honestly, the results are just as stunning, if not more so, because you're really pushing the boundaries of what the game's tools can do. Once you’ve successfully followed the steps to create your pool on a platform, the real fun begins: making it your own! I love decorating around these pools. Think about adding some lush landscaping around the base or even building a small deck area connected to the platform for loungers and a BBQ. For evening swims, string lights are an absolute must-have; they create such a magical atmosphere. You can place them on fences, pergolas, or even just free-standing poles for a cozy glow. Don't forget the practical touches! Ensure your ladder is easily accessible and that your Sims can path to it without issues. I always do a quick test run with a Sim to make sure they can get in and out smoothly. Sometimes, if you've made a very intricate connecting platform, a tiny adjustment can make all the difference. Also, consider the color palette for your pool and platform – matching or contrasting with your main house can really elevate the overall look. When I first tried to build an elevated pool, I found the steps involving the 2x2 room and raising floor a bit confusing, but once you grasp the concept of using a temporary room to create your platform, it clicks! It's all about tricking the game a little to get that perfect raised effect. And starting with an octagonal pool often gives you a great base to stretch and shape into your desired design. It’s all about experimenting and seeing what works best for your vision. Happy Simming, and enjoy your beautiful new pool!
