Need every day to be like this!!!
Spending a Sunday exploring Detroit’s vibrant neighborhoods truly highlights the city's unique charm. Starting at the Indian Village Garage Sale, I was captivated not only by the eclectic array of treasures but also by the historic homes lining the streets, which add so much character to the experience. Even though it was the second day of the sale and fewer items caught my eye, the atmosphere was inviting and a wonderful way to kick off the day. Next, the Kerch Market hosted by Velvet Tower and Two Birds was buzzing with energy. The market’s lively setup had a great selection of vendors offering everything from vintage clothing to unique artisanal goods. It’s a perfect spot for those who love discovering local crafts and gifts that have a story behind them. I was lucky to meet a seller from TikTok who brought some truly special vintage pieces. Refueling at Washed Up Coffee was a highlight. Their brews are exceptional, especially when enjoyed amid Detroit’s urban backdrop. The cozy café vibe makes it a great place to relax and soak in the local culture before continuing the journey. Pewabic Pottery is more than just a stop; it’s a deep dive into Detroit’s artistic heritage. Founded in the early 1900s by Mary Chase Perry Stratton, this pottery studio is renowned for its iridescent glazes and rich history. Visiting the studio gave me a new appreciation for Detroit’s contribution to the arts and craftsmanship. It's a must-see for anyone curious about local art traditions. Finally, no Detroit experience feels complete without a visit to Belle Isle. On a sunny day, the island offers a peaceful retreat with stunning natural views, perfect for reflecting on the day's adventures. The blend of nature and city skyline views is simply breathtaking. Overall, my Sunday in Detroit was a perfect mix of shopping, sipping coffee, appreciating historic art, and enjoying nature. For anyone wanting to experience Detroit beyond the typical tourist spots, I highly recommend this itinerary. It’s a wonderful way to connect with the city and its community in an authentic and memorable way.
