Today is shot day 💉✨
Sundays are for slow mornings, soft resets... and shot day. Since I split my GLP-1 dose, I actually have two shot days a week-any other Sunday shot day girlies out there? #glp1 #pcos #shotday #glp1community #gIpjourney
For many of us on a GLP-1 journey, especially those managing conditions like PCOS, 'shot day' isn't just another day on the calendar; it's a significant marker in our week. It’s a day that comes with its own rhythm, expectations, and sometimes, a few challenges. When I first started, I often wondered what other people did. What does 'shot day' truly mean, and how can I best prepare myself, especially when it comes to what I put into my body? For me, 'shot day' has evolved into a day of mindful self-care and preparation. It's when I administer my GLP-1 medication, which for me, due to splitting my dose, actually means I have two of these days a week! This consistency is key to managing my PCOS symptoms and supporting my overall health goals. On these days, I pay extra attention to my body's signals and try to set myself up for success for the days that follow. One of the most common questions I hear, and one I certainly asked myself, is 'what to eat on shot day?' My experience has taught me that opting for easily digestible, nutrient-rich foods is paramount. I tend to lean heavily on lean proteins, healthy fats, and plenty of fiber. Think scrambled eggs with avocado and spinach, a smoothie packed with protein powder and berries, or a simple grilled chicken salad. I try to avoid anything that's overly greasy, spicy, or processed, as these can sometimes exacerbate potential side effects like nausea or indigestion. Keeping meals lighter throughout the day seems to help my system adjust to the medication. Hydration is another non-negotiable. I make a conscious effort to sip water, herbal tea, or electrolyte-infused drinks throughout the entire day. Sometimes, if I'm feeling a bit off, a clear broth or a smoothie can be a great way to get both fluids and some gentle nutrients in. It’s all about listening to your body and giving it what it needs to thrive. Beyond food, my 'shot day' routine includes a bit of mental and physical preparation. I ensure I have all my supplies ready, choose a comfortable spot for the injection, and take a few deep breaths. Sometimes, I’ll plan a relaxing activity for the evening, like a warm bath or reading a book, to help my body and mind unwind. It’s a small ritual that makes a big difference in how I perceive and experience the day. If you're new to your GLP-1 journey or finding your own 'shot day' rhythm, remember that everyone's experience can be a little different. What works for one person might need tweaking for another. But focusing on gentle nutrition, staying well-hydrated, and building a supportive routine around your injection can truly make 'Today is Day!' (as my inner self might declare) a positive step forward in your health journey. Share your own tips – I’d love to hear them!
