When your love letting go is not an option

2025/1/18 Edited to

... Read moreIt's a phrase we hear so often, isn't it? 'If you truly love something, let it go.' And for a long time, I think I bought into that idea. It sounds so poetic, so selfless. But what if true love, for some of us, looks completely different? What if it's about holding on fiercely, even when things get tough, even when the world tells you to walk away? For me, there came a point where letting go just wasn't an option. My heart, my soul, knew that this was a love that ran deep – so deep that the idea of simply releasing it felt like a betrayal of everything I believed in. It wasn't about control or fear of being alone; it was about an undeniable connection, a profound commitment that felt like the very essence of my being. Many times, throughout our journey, challenges arose that made others question our path. People would offer well-meaning advice, suggesting that perhaps it was time to let go for my own peace. But inside, there was always this unwavering conviction: 'I'll show up no matter what happens.' This wasn't a choice made lightly; it was a deeply ingrained feeling, a promise spoken and unspoken, that my love for this person was not conditional on circumstances. This kind of love, for me, is about choosing to stay, to fight, to nurture, and to grow together. It's about seeing beyond imperfections and embracing the entirety of a person. It's about understanding that love isn't always easy, and sometimes the most profound act of love is showing up, day after day, through thick and thin. It's in those moments of unwavering support, when you truly commit to being there, that love deepens and transforms. I think the confusion might lie in distinguishing between healthy attachment and unhealthy obsession. 'Letting go' often applies to situations where a relationship is toxic, one-sided, or harmful. In those cases, letting go is an act of self-love and preservation. But when you have a genuine, unconditional connection, where both individuals are committed to working through challenges and supporting each other's growth, then staying isn't a weakness – it's a testament to the strength and resilience of your bond. My love runs deep for you; it's a feeling that resonates with every fiber of my being. It means seeing a future together, not just in the good times, but through every storm we might face. So, while 'true love is letting go' might be a mantra for some, I've found my own truth. For me, true love is about that deep-seated understanding that you will always be there. It's about the conscious decision to commit, to nurture, to defend, and to cherish. It’s about feeling that profound connection that makes you declare, 'I'll show up no matter what happens.' It's a love that doesn't just survive challenges but thrives because of the commitment to face them together. It's about building something enduring, something beautiful, precisely because you chose not to let it go. And that, to me, is the most powerful kind of love there is.
