It's super straightforward: 3 Things I'm Grateful For: These can be anything from the big blessings in life, like 'God's Word' or 'holidays,' to simple comforts like 'clean drinking water.' The key is to genuinely feel appreciative for them. I try to switch them up daily, but sometimes the same things pop up if they're particularly impactful! 2 Things That Made Me Smile: This category is fantastic for noticing the little joys. Maybe it was 'cleaning floors with help' from a family member, or the luxury of 'sleeping in' on a weekend. It encourages you to pay attention to those fleeting moments of happiness throughout your day. 1 Favorite Part of My Day: This is where I reflect on a specific highlight. It could be something I accomplished, like getting a workout in at the gym, finishing up some cleaning, or even just having a lovely chat while 'visiting a friend.' It reinforces positive experiences and helps me end the day on a high note. The beauty of this method is its flexibility. You can do it first thing in the morning to set a positive tone, or as I often do, right before sleep to reflect on the day and ensure I go to bed with a grateful heart. I've found that writing my entries by hand, like in my own journal, makes it feel more personal and allows me to truly connect with my thoughts. If you're looking for extra prompts beyond the 3-2-1 structure, here are a few ideas I sometimes use to deepen my reflection: What challenge did I overcome today, and what did I learn from it? Who brought a smile to my face today, and why? What small act of kindness did I witness or perform? What sensory details (a scent, a sound, a taste) am I grateful for today? What is something I'm looking forward to tomorrow? Starting a gratitude journal doesn't have to be complicated. Just grab a notebook – it can be a fancy one or just a simple spiral, whatever encourages you to write – and a pen. Don't worry about perfect handwriting or grammar; this is for *you*. The most important thing is consistency. Even if you miss a day, just pick it up again the next. The perseverance to keep going, even when life gets busy, is what truly helps you 'journey better' and maintain that positive mindset.
