My life as a recent Film graduate🎓🎬
I recently graduated in June this year, and I was so worried about finding a job in my field because I had so many people (mainly my own family) doubting me. People would say that film is a useless major, and only useful for Hollywood production. But I knew I could use my major in the marketing industry for videography. So I searched and searched. In one month after graduating I found a marketing company looking for a videographer and I got the job immediately!!
I’m so happy and blessed to have found a job that I love and have fun working at. Plus proving everyone wrong, that yes, I can make a living doing what I love!!
So my advice, ignore the negativity and do what makes you happy. Work hard and believe in yourself💖
Graduating with a degree in film can often come with doubts, especially from family and peers who may not see the value in creative fields. However, the skills acquired in film studies—like storytelling, visual communication, and creative problem solving—are highly transferable to various industries, such as marketing, where videography is increasingly important. As you embark on your post-graduation journey, remember that networking can play a pivotal role in securing job opportunities. Engaging with professionals in your desired industry through platforms like LinkedIn or alumni networks can yield significant benefits. Furthermore, creating a strong portfolio showcasing your projects can help you stand out to potential employers. With the rise of digital marketing, companies are constantly searching for individuals who can create compelling video content that resonates with audiences. Emphasizing your unique perspective and skills gained from your film education can open doors to various roles in this sector, from content creation to brand storytelling. Ultimately, maintaining a positive mindset and believing in your abilities is essential. Embrace the challenges that come with transitioning into the workforce, and remember that your passion for film and media can lead to fulfilling career opportunities that align with your interests.
