Art and social media

2025/6/28 Edited to

... Read moreHey everyone! I've been thinking a lot about the role of social media for artists lately, especially after seeing so many incredible pencil drawings and sketchbook art making waves online. It really gets you wondering, right? Why is sharing high-quality visual content SO important for us artists? In my experience, it fundamentally shifts how people perceive your work. When I upload a crisp, well-lit photo of my latest piece, it instantly elevates its perceived value. This isn't just about pretty pictures; it's about professionalism. High-quality visuals are your digital handshake, showcasing your dedication and skill. It's how you build a strong online reputation, showing potential collectors and collaborators that you take your craft seriously. Think about it: how are you going to gain more followers across multiple social networks if your art isn't shining its brightest? People scroll quickly, and a blurry or poorly cropped image gets overlooked. But a stunning, clear image stops them in their tracks. Consistent posting of beautiful work builds an audience who trusts your artistic vision and keeps coming back for more. It's how you stand out in a crowded digital world. Beyond just followers, high-quality content fosters a personal connection with your audience. When I share process shots or close-ups of my pencil drawings from my sketchbook, it invites people into my creative world. It makes the art feel more human, more accessible. This connection isn't just nice to have; it's essential for long-term engagement and appreciation. People want to feel a bond with the artist behind the work, and seeing the journey behind a piece makes it even more special. And let's be real, enabling sales of artist's artwork is a huge part of being a successful artist. Your art won't sell itself if it doesn't look its best online. High-resolution images that accurately represent colors and textures are paramount. They give potential buyers the confidence to invest, knowing exactly what they're getting. I've personally seen how much easier it is to convert interest into sales when my portfolio on platforms like Lemon8 showcases my art immaculately, almost as if they're seeing it in person. So, while the debate about which platform is 'easiest' might continue, the underlying truth remains: the quality of your visual content is king. It's the engine that drives follower growth, solidifies your artistic reputation, deepens audience connection, and ultimately, helps you turn your passion into a sustainable career. Never underestimate the power of a perfectly captured pencil drawing from your sketchbook – it's your best marketing tool!

None. It’s luck of the draw sadly. Not to be discouraging but as an animator? It’s true. Try art station and Pinterest if anything. Instagram will get drowned out hard.
