Genre: Psychological Horror/Thriller

Synopsis: Eve and Charlie are a couple that flip houses and when the previous owners arrive at their current flip home, everything changes. The longer the unwelcome strangers stay, the more reality shifts- literally.

•frustrating antagonists

•creepy old house

•mild horror

•winter time thriller

•mind bending

•lesbian representation

•isolation

My Opinion: What a neat concept for a contemporary horror story! For most of the story I was hooked. I am a sucker for creepy old houses and unreliable narrators and this book DELIVERS both. I appreciated the horror which was descriptive but tastefully done.

I would have liked to see more development of characters other than Eve, but I do understand Eve is the most important to the story. I found the ending to be a bit confusing and rushed, but that could definitely be a “me” issue and less of an issue with the story itself.

For the author’s debut novel, I am throughly impressed and will read more of Kliewer’s work in the future. 📖
