I’m still definitely working on finding my voice on here
These pages were super fun and I’m so happy to be working with monsters and more of the gruesome stuff in this book 😁
I’m so happy some of you are following my path to finding my own art style 😊
I feel like I always arrive at someone’s page who has their own art style down but I have never seen an artist develop their style publicly which I’m hoping to show the world!
I wasn’t born with this skill, I have practiced and continue to study and learn as I go
I’m not a professional I am fully self taught
I couldn’t be more excited to put forth my art and hopefully inspire others as well 😁
... Read moreHello fellow art lovers! I'm thrilled to share a deeper dive into my creative process and some thoughts behind these new sketchbook pages. You might have seen glimpses of my 'monsters and gruesome stuff' as I tour through my latest entries, but today I want to talk about the bigger picture: finding your unique art style and making your sketchbook a true companion in that journey.
Like many of you, I wasn’t born with a fully formed artistic skill. It's truly a path of continuous practice, study, and learning. When I started, I felt like I was constantly comparing myself to artists who had their style 'down.' But what I've realized is that seeing an artist develop their style publicly, showing the raw process, can be incredibly inspiring. So, here I am, sharing my imperfect, evolving journey!
One of the most exciting parts for me right now is embracing those macabre drawings. You'll see detailed sketches like a girl with a spider, a zombie, or even a skeletal spine. There's a real freedom in exploring these darker themes. It's not just about drawing creepy things; it's about pushing boundaries, experimenting with different textures, and finding beauty in the unconventional. My 'monsters and gruesome stuff' often come from folklore, old movies, or even just random ideas that spark my imagination. Don't be afraid to draw what truly fascinates you, no matter how unusual it might seem!
My sketchbook is more than just a place to draw; it’s a visual diary and a practice ground. Whether it's a quick doodle of everyday objects like a tall drink or bowling pins, or a more intricate piece like an eye with 'Ojos' or a skull labeled 'Señor Muerte,' every page tells a story. It’s where I experiment with different ideas, make mistakes, and celebrate small victories. For any self-taught artist out there, I can't stress enough the importance of simply showing up to your sketchbook regularly. Even if it's just for five minutes, those consistent efforts add up. It’s how you document your progress, refine your techniques, and ultimately, carve out that unique artistic voice you're searching for.
I hope that by sharing these new sketchbook pages and my ongoing journey, I can inspire some of you to pick up your own pencils and embrace your creative process. Remember, art doesn't have to be perfect; it just has to be yours. Keep sketching, keep exploring, and let your unique style unfold!
