Oshi No Ko

⭐️Overall rating: /5:

📒Notes:

New series that I will remain consistent with. Been falling off with my interests since classes started. I’ll give my first impression, season reviews, then anime overall.

Episode 2: I watched the first ep a bit ago so I’ll give a rundown on how I feel about both of them just this once😅. So far I definitely recommend this as a watch. Two idol kids showing their journey to fame. First episode reeled me in good. But what’s keeping me is the dual relationship between the twins. The storyline already starts off so beautifully, even pulled at my heart strings a bit but seeing how protective Aqua (the boy) is over his sister Ruby is refreshing. I love when healthy sibling dynamics are expressed in anime. Especially since a FEW (im looking at you, Yaegers and Uchihas🤧) seem to blur the lines between family and foe. The story building in oshi no ko is nice though, not much happening but enough is happening.

... Read moreOkay, so I've been completely captivated by Oshi No Ko lately, and I just had to share more of my thoughts beyond my initial spoiler-free review. What really makes this series shine, and perhaps what draws your eye like a visual 'cursor' guiding you through its vibrant world, is its incredible ability to blend heartfelt character drama with the glitz and grit of the entertainment industry. From the very first scene, the anime's visual storytelling is just *stunning*. The vibrant animation, those distinctive star-shaped pupils that hint at the characters' unique destinies, and the sparkling pink backdrop often seen in promotional art (like the poster with Ruby and Aqua making peace signs!) all work together to create an instantly recognizable and memorable aesthetic. It's not just pretty to look at; these visuals are integral to drawing you into the emotional core of the story. Every frame feels deliberate, guiding your attention to subtle expressions or crucial details that build the narrative. It’s like the anime itself is pointing you towards its deeper meanings. But let's talk more about what truly keeps me invested: the dynamic between Aqua and Ruby. My initial review touched on their protective bond, but honestly, it's so much more than just that. Their relationship is the heart of *Oshi No Ko*. Seeing how they navigate the cutthroat world of idols and actors, each with their own goals and secrets, while still maintaining this deep, unspoken connection, is truly moving. What makes their sibling dynamic so refreshing and compelling isn't just Aqua's protectiveness, but the shared history and understanding they have. Their unique circumstances create an unparalleled bond, where they often don't even need words to communicate. It’s a healthy sibling dynamic because, despite the immense personal burdens and dark secrets they carry, they are fundamentally there for each other. They offer a sense of grounding and belonging in a world that can be incredibly superficial and isolating. They might have different paths and even different approaches to achieving their goals, but that underlying current of mutual support and care is always present. It’s a powerful portrayal of family—not just by blood, but by shared experience and destiny. I also find it fascinating how their individual journeys intertwine and impact each other, especially as Ruby strives to become a shining idol and Aqua seeks something far darker. Their bond provides both comfort and conflict, making their interactions incredibly rich and unpredictable. You constantly wonder how their love for each other will be tested by the harsh realities they face. For anyone who loves anime that combines intricate plots with deep character development, especially focusing on family ties within unique settings, Oshi No Ko is an absolute must-watch. The way it explores themes of truth, revenge, and the complex nature of relationships, all wrapped in that visually captivating package, ensures that you're always clicking to the next episode, eager to see where Aqua and Ruby's intertwined destinies will lead them. It's an experience that really sticks with you.
