Better for you chip options @ Aldi!
Sea salt chips 4/5 ⭐️- these taste amazing especially if you use them with a dip! Only 2 ingredients! I do wish the bag was filled more for the price but definitely a lower cost alternative. Perfectly salted.
Sweet potato chips 3/5 ⭐️- the flavor was not great. I found them to be very bland and not salted enough. I don’t love how they use canola oil. For the price point I was pass on buying again. I do also experience some bloating
brown rice crisps 5/5⭐️- I gave these another shot and LOVE them. They taste just like your average tortilla chip without the unnecessary ingredients PLUS they’re gluten free. The sweet chili pairs perfectly with an avocado dip
hot cheezmos 3/5⭐️- this brand is always a go to but I found these to taste stale and lack flavor. Clean ingredients but for the price point you don’t get a lot in the bag.
When looking for better-for-you snack options, finding chips that balance health, taste, and price can be a challenge. Aldi offers several varieties that stand out for their simpler ingredients and gluten-free options. For instance, their Clancy’s Avocado Oil Sea Salt Kettle Cooked Potato Chips impressed me with just two ingredients—potatoes and avocado oil—providing a perfectly salted taste ideal for dipping. The use of avocado oil is beneficial as it is rich in monounsaturated fats and adds a subtle flavor boost. On the other hand, the sweet potato chips left me wanting more flavor and less oil from canola, an ingredient I try to limit due to personal dietary preferences. Though they are free from artificial flavors, the mild taste and the mild bloating I experienced made me hesitant to repurchase these. For those sensitive to oils or seeking stronger seasoning, these may not be the best fit. The brown rice crisps were a surprising favorite. Their resemblance to tortilla chips coupled with gluten-free certification made them a versatile and satisfying snack, especially paired with fresh dips like guacamole. With only mild seasoning, they are also great for people managing wheat allergies or gluten sensitivity. Hot Cheezmos, while clean in ingredients, fell short on flavor and freshness for me. I found the bags small for the price and the taste rather stale compared to other options. However, if you appreciate minimal ingredient lists and spicy snacks, these might still appeal to you. In my experience, when choosing snacks like chips, the ingredient list and portion size are critical. Many store brands like Aldi balance affordability and cleaner labels, making them accessible for health-conscious shoppers. It’s worth trying different flavors and brands to see what aligns best with your taste preferences and dietary needs. Always check nutrition facts to avoid unexpected additives or excess sodium, making your chip snack time enjoyable and guilt-free.
