Doing homework before class starts

2025/3/26 Edited to

... Read moreHey fellow CSUSB students! I’ve seen a lot of you asking, "Is Math 1101 at CSUSB easy or easiest?" and honestly, I had the same question when I first started. My goal here is to give you my honest take and some practical tips based on my own journey through the course, especially when it came to managing all those assignments. First off, 'easy' is subjective, right? What might be easy for one person could be challenging for another. For me, Math 1101 wasn't a walk in the park, but it definitely wasn't impossible either. I'd put it somewhere in the middle. The key for me was consistency and having a solid study strategy. If you stay on top of the material and do your homework diligently, you'll find it much more manageable. One thing I quickly learned was the importance of checking the CSUSB student dashboard regularly. This was my go-to for keeping track of all my courses, deadlines, and the always-growing to-do list. It's easy to fall behind if you're not constantly aware of what's coming up. For Math 1101, the assignments piled up pretty quickly, and I remember looking at my planner, seeing "Two out of 12 assignments done so far," and feeling a bit overwhelmed at first. That's when I decided to really buckle down. My biggest piece of advice for making Math 1101 feel "easier" is to start your homework before it's due. Seriously, don't wait until the last minute. I found that if I even just looked at the problems a day or two after they were assigned, it eased the pressure. Breaking down those 12 assignments into smaller chunks made a huge difference. For example, instead of thinking "I have to do 10 math problems," I'd aim for 2-3 problems each day. This way, when Wednesday 26 (or whatever day the deadline was) rolled around, I wasn't scrambling. Another lifesaver was utilizing resources. Don't be afraid to go to your professor's office hours, even just to clarify a small concept. They are there to help! Also, if CSUSB offers peer tutoring for Math 1101, I highly recommend checking it out. Sometimes hearing an explanation from a fellow student just clicks better. I’d often set up my study area with my laptop open to the CSUSB dashboard, a comforting presence like my Pochacco pencil case nearby, and just grind through the problems. Having a dedicated space and minimizing distractions helped me focus. In summary, while Math 1101 at CSUSB might not be universally 'easy,' it's definitely conquerable with the right approach. Stay organized using your CSUSB student dashboard and a physical planner, start assignments early, and don't hesitate to seek help. You've got this! Just keep chipping away at those assignments, and you'll find yourself understanding the material much better than if you try to cram.
