Social Media Is RUINING My Personality !!!

It’s not necessarily the phone, it’s the habits I’ve created and social media being the main contributor. I’m so exhausted from not living my life! Most of us don’t. And while yes, some will argue they do live their lives… When was the last time you WILLINGLY went 1 day without your phone? or better yet, one FULL day of no social media on purpose?

Some of you probably have, and do! Which is what I would like to do. But the majority of us do not, and I find it depressing!! I want to delete TikTok, Instagram, Snapchat, and Facebook for a week. *** Some of you might find it contradicting *** , but i’m going to allow myself Lemon8 and Pinterest. And if they become a problem, i’ll cut them out too!

If you have tips, please leave them in the comments!!!

Who’s with me? 🙂‍↔️🍃🪷🫶🏼

... Read moreIf you're like me, you might find yourself scrolling through social media for hours, not really engaging, just... absorbing. This is what it means to be a passive scroller, and honestly, it’s a habit I've realized is silently stealing so much from my life. It's not just about the phone itself, but the insidious patterns we fall into. Being a "passive scroller" isn't just a quirky label; it’s a real issue that can leave you feeling drained and unfulfilled. I used to think I was just relaxing, but looking back, I was actually becoming the "least productive I've ever been in my whole life." The endless feed of curated lives and perfect aesthetics chipped away at my self-esteem, leaving me feeling "beyond insecure" and even struggling with thoughts akin to "body dysmorphia." It’s a vicious cycle where you compare yourself, feel bad, and then scroll more to escape, only to feel worse. One of the biggest impacts for me has been my sleep schedule. I often find myself staying up "anywhere from 3am-6am" just because I can't put my phone down. That lack of discipline spills over into other areas of my life, leaving me with "no motivation" to do things I once loved. I used to be so active, hanging out with friends and enjoying school, but now I feel isolated, missing out on genuine "human interaction." So, what can we do beyond just deleting apps entirely? While my current plan involves a major detox, I've also been exploring strategies to combat passive scrolling even when I'm back online, or for those who aren't ready for a full break. Here are a few things I've found helpful: Mindful Scrolling: Before opening an app, ask yourself: What am I looking for? What's my purpose here? If there isn't one, maybe it's not the time to scroll. Set Timers: Most phones and apps have built-in timers. This helps me try to "discipline myself" and avoid going down endless rabbit holes. When the timer goes off, I try to switch to a different activity. Curate Your Feed: Unfollow accounts that make you feel inadequate or stressed. Fill your feed with content that genuinely inspires, educates, or makes you happy. Minimize the comparison trap. Turn Off Notifications: Those constant pings are designed to pull you back in. Turning them off reduces the urge to constantly check "that damn phone." Find Offline Hobbies: This is huge for me. I desperately need to "reconnect to nature and touch grass." Scheduling time for walks, reading, a craft, or even just sitting outside can be incredibly grounding and helps fill the void that social media often tries to occupy. Prioritize Real-Life Connections: Make an effort to call a friend, meet for coffee, or spend quality time with family. Nothing beats authentic "human interaction." Create a Wind-Down Routine: Keeping my phone out of my bedroom is a challenge, but crucial for better sleep. Reading a physical book or listening to calming music instead of scrolling can make a big difference. This journey to break free from passive scrolling is a personal one, but it’s comforting to know I’m not alone. It’s about reclaiming our time, our peace of mind, and our motivation to truly live our lives. If you've been feeling the same, I hope these tips resonate with you too.
