At 6 weeks along, the ultrasound confirmed that I have dichorionic diamniotic twin pregnancies, meaning each baby has its own separate gestational sac and placenta. This type of twin pregnancy is generally considered lower risk compared to monochorionic twins because the babies develop independently. The ultrasound also showed fetal heart rates on the lower end of normal, which my OBGYN advised will require close monitoring to ensure the health and growth of both babies. It's been reassuring to learn that having moderate amounts of free fluid around is common in early pregnancy and not cause for alarm. My uterus measured normally and the cervix was closed, which are good signs at this stage. As a mother-to-be experiencing a rainbow pregnancy, after previous losses or difficulties, this moment feels profoundly hopeful and full of promise. Though the early stages bring some understandable nerves when carrying twins, I'm committed to following all medical advice closely and embracing this unique experience. I look forward to sharing more updates and the special moments as our little rainbow babies grow and thrive.
