Summer read
I was shocked by how much I loved this book! I LOVED Every Summer After, but was disappointed by Meet Me at the Lake. BUT THIS BOOK
honestly, love it even more than Every
Summer After.
I loved Alice. She is type A, she sees people, she cares for those she loves, she loves a list and she isn't used to letting loose. Spoiler alert: I am Alice
While she is
strong, independent and doesn't need a man, she does need a summer buddy to help her have some fun. Cue CHARLIE FLOREK!!! The man seen as a player and not the type to settle down. However, with Alice, he's different. He doesn't believe in himself enough to think he deserves Alice and Alice doesn't believe someone will truly see her. But their summer fling has them both questioning if this is worth more?
Nan is an amazing character, I am loving the grandparent side character in romances lately. Alice and Nan's relationship is so special. Also, if my future husband doesn't treat my grandparents like Charlie does Nan, he's out!
the banter, the straightforward grandma, the lake days, and the character development. Alice learning to ask for help and believe in herself was the best part of the book.
My recommendation is you have to read Every Summer After, first to fully understand Charlie, because he messed up a lot in his past but this book is his redemption story! While he still messes up (believe me it's BUMPY) he starts believing he might have a happy ending too. Obviously, I love a reformed bad boy
I was a little irritated toward the end so if you were too DM me, let's debrief
