things i've learned at 19 weeks...

19 weeks pregnant means i'm practically halfway there 🫶🏼

if you asked me in January, through the hardships of my IVF journey, i never would have imagined going into the Holidays on my way to becoming a mom.

if you're pregnant, these are some things that are important to know/ things i have learned about myself.

✨you will start to show, which means your ligaments are stretching internally and may cause some discomfort or pain.

✨if you have endometriosis, like me, you may have some added pain from the scar tissue stretching and breaking.

✨you may still have food aversions, but if you don't eat- you'll feel even worse & maybe even get headaches. try to snack regularly and focus on protein.

✨start looking into maternity leggings/sweats/pants.

✨hydrate!!! if you think you've had enough, drink more! this will also help with the discomfort. this also helps prevent UTIs!

✨communicate with your partners and let them into your brain a little bit so that they can understand your journey and how you are feeling/where you could use some support.

... Read moreIt's amazing reaching 19 weeks, almost halfway! I remember when I was earlier on, around 11 or 12 weeks, feeling like some milestones were so far away. Now, seeing the incredible development during my anatomy scan around this time has been truly mind-blowing. Many of you might be curious about what to expect during this pivotal 19-week ultrasound, and trust me, it's a big one! This scan typically checks everything from your baby's organs and growth to their adorable face profile. For those hoping to find out, it's also often when you can learn if you're having a little boy or girl! Beyond the scans, the second trimester, from around week 13 to 27, is often called the 'golden trimester' for a reason. While my article touched on some of the discomforts, many expecting moms, myself included, often find a surge of energy compared to those initial weeks (think back to weeks 4, 7, or 9 when nausea might have been at its peak!). You might start feeling those exciting first flutters or even distinct kicks from your little one. This is also when your baby is really growing, with significant development happening even from 11 weeks when they're forming all their essential systems, and by 12 weeks, they're settling into their cozy space, moving more freely. The size of your little one at 11 weeks is often compared to a lime, rapidly growing from a blueberry at 9 weeks! Speaking of growth, your belly is definitely showing by now! For those wondering about the difference between a first and second pregnancy belly at say, 8 weeks, it's true that subsequent pregnancies often show sooner as your abdominal muscles have been stretched before. But regardless, by 19 weeks, it's time to embrace those maternity leggings and sweats! They aren't just about comfort; they truly support your growing bump and help alleviate some of the pressure on your ligaments. As you move further into the second trimester, perhaps around 24 weeks, you might notice more defined movements and even some Braxton Hicks contractions – those are your body's way of practicing for the big day! While there are old wives' tales about 'symptoms of a girl' or a boy, the only true way to know is through an ultrasound. What's more important is focusing on your health and your baby's development. Staying hydrated, snacking on protein-rich foods, and getting enough rest become even more crucial as you approach the third trimester at 28 weeks. Don't forget to keep communicating with your partner; their support is invaluable throughout this incredible, transformative journey. Every week brings new learnings and experiences, making each step of this pregnancy journey, especially after an IVF journey like mine, incredibly special.

1- being a “band kid” i was bullied everyday in high school and middle school for being in the marching band. everyone called me a band kid. when people think of band kids, they think of you as a nerd, unattractive, annoying, etc. now, i get to major in jazz and do the thing i love as a career. m
